X-windows under A/UX should be >available "at the time of" the next release of A/UX. Uh oh, I'm gettting that funny feeling again...could this mean that X will not be bundled into A/UX, but will be yet another option one will have to shell out big bucks for? You mean its not included in the update tape for A/UX that you can't buy cause no one in California sells A/UX, but if you could buy it you couldn't update because the tape drive is not supported? Well lets see... A/UX On line support $3395 a *YEAR* A/UX updates $750 a *YEAR* so X Window System hmmmmmm $700 a YEAR? Boy, maybe the marketing department should start charging for MAC OS updates yeah, or better still retroactively charge for updates yeah thats the ticket! Marketing: So sir, you've owned a Mac since 1984, Finder 1.0? and you say you are using Finder 6.0? That will be $18,000 for support and another $3500 for updates please... Customer: Gee, you guys must be taking lessons from MicroSoft and IBM! Newspaper: Today Apple announced record earnings of $10 billion from the sale of support and update charges of A/UX to universities and huge corporations. John S. said "Yes, we've found that we don't have to develop any new software, we just port old O/S's and then make our money on support and services!" Sort of disappointing to say the least....
