If there's anything I hate, its inconsistencies.

- I normally run "xclock -geometry =WIDxHGT+X+Y", and it works fine.
- I tried "xclock -xrm 'xclock.TopLevelShell.geometry: =WIDxHGT+X+Y'"
  and that worked fine.
- I tried adding the above resource record to my .Xdefaults (I'm not
  using xrdb), and xclock blatently ignored it.
- other Widget tools (like xmh or xbiff) happily use the *geometry spec.

Is there a reasonable explanation for this behavior?
