Speed is important. But number one, that which is used by the majority should indicate the modus operandi with regard to archive method. Those who like zoo enough could try to effect a change. Since this is a binaries group, post the binary to ZOO. I have been on the net for more than a year and I have only seen sources for for ZOO and they were in the unix sources group. I could be easily convinced to use zoo if it started appearing on every BBS in the country and uploads were packed in zoo format.
