Message-ID: <51@daitc.ARPA> Date: 4 May 88 14:56:27 GMT Organization: Defense Applied Information Technology Center, Alexandria VA Lines: 31 Keywords: maps, syntax In a previous private message, uucpmap@rutgers.edu said: >According to the new rules for pathalias maps, the only character which can be >used for local routing is ! (instead of the @ in the HOST entry). Extract of UUCP map entry (with bogus names substituted): ># >HOST host1(EVENING), host2(DIRECT), host3(DEMAND), ># ># LAN addressed user@host ># >MAIN-ETHER = @{HOST, local1, local2}(LOCAL) After having my last map update rejected because of 'invalid syntax', I started looking through the UUCP maps to find out what was the accepted way to show ethernet connected hosts to a UUCP relay machine. What I found was that there are 5 basic ways that are used: 1. MAIN-ETHER = @{HOST, local1, local2}(LOCAL) 2. MAIN-ETHER = {HOST, local1, local2}(LOCAL) 3. MAIN-ETHER = {HOST, local1, local2}!(LOCAL) 4. MAIN-ETHER = {HOST, local1, local2} 5. Listing each local host as an entry (i.e. local1(LOCAL), local2(LOCAL) The documentation is unclear about which ons is therefore correct (option 2?). Any suggestions? What I want is to allow the rest of the world to find out a route to hosts located on MAIN-ETHER (local1, local2, etc...). -curtis- Curtis C.
