It must allow remote selection of tape density. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with such an item? Some such controllers are: Micro Technologies MSV25, Plessey TCV21, Dilog DQ153, and Emulex QT13. Does anyone know of any others? We also want to acquire a tape switch to connect multiple hosts to one tape drive, and perhaps multiple hosts to multiple tape drives (all using Pertec interfaces). Does anyone had any good or bad experience with something such as this? We have been looking at a tape switch by Eakins. Does anyone know of any others? Also, we have strongly been considering getting one these new Exabyte 2.3 Gig 8mm tape drives for use with 4.3BSD Unix. I infer that there is currently a problem where only one file can be saved on a tape convieniently. Other than that, how well does it seem to work. Has anyone had any problems, or is it the answer to everyone's prayers? Of course, now that we have moved to the topic of SCSI tape drives, does anyone know of any SCSI switches? |>oug /\lan (or nessus@athena.mit.edu nessus@mit-eddie.uucp)
