One of the regular NetHack players at our site has had the game
panic a couple of times in "freeinv". Does anybody have patches
(or even some idea of what is wrong)? The following is a transcript
of his problem...

        I was (literally) just about to score 2 billion points ( I was
just checking to ensure that I REALLY was fire resistant [ who knows
what resistance a poison breathing dragon endows ] before heading on
down into hell ) when the bloody system blew up on me again!!!
Aaargh. It takes ages to get a Ninja strong.

When it blew up on me I was in the middle of dropping items on level
20. The items I had on me, incidentally, looked nothing like the ones shown 
below.

Please tell me you can fix this thing.

 K - a scroll of teleportation.

 Wands
 e - a wand of polymorph (2).
 c - a wand of polymorph (12).
 w - a wand of polymorph (8).
 y - a cursed wand of polymorph (0).
 E - a cursed wand of wishing (0).
 w - a cursed wand of polymorph (0).

 Potions
 A - a potion of speed.

 Gems
