Ah-ha! I thought my machine was the only one. :-}  If you look at the build 
tree (do you know what I mean?) you will see that there are a bunch of symbolic
links in .../include/X11. One of the symbolic links (Atoms.h) links to 
StringDefs.h.  When the installation was done those links didn't get made. 

I dunno why. 

I hand linked Atoms.h to StringDefs.h.  So if you create a symbolic link
called Atoms.h which links to StringDefs.h your problem should be solved. 

There might be more links that need to be built.  Haven't discovered them yet.
