Both the gateway and workstation software packages are from IBM. IBM Trancsmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol for the PC, program number 5798-FAL. Included in that is SMTP that is designed to talk to a POP server. I have not used the mail feature of this product. I have used PC-NFS Life Line which is a PC-NFS add-on to send and receive mail via a POP server. This product is window based, (but not MS Windows) and work quite well. C source for a POP server was included with the product and I had no problem getting it up and running on a Sun-3. As an aside the Backup program included with Life Line is very nice and allows me to backup my 60 Megabytes of local hard disk to a Unix attached tape drive.
