I've been submerged by litterally (sic) hundreds of mail messages which completely absorbed my overdraft quota, so I couldn't send mail outgoing :-(. I've received lots of requests for MAKE, but unfortunately I'm not in a position to distribute it myself right now. You can FTP it anonymously from Harvard if you are on Internet. I've heard that it's available on at least one BITnet list server, though I have no idea where. I 've also seen it distributed on a DECUS symposium tape with GNU-Emacs, but I don't know which season's tape had it. For those who don't know about MAKE/VMS, it is a utility derived from UN*X that allows execution of steps based on relative dates of files or library modules (e.g. if the .FOR source is newer than the .EXE, compile and link). The current version of MAKE/VMS is 2.0, and I should have 3.0 finished by the end of May. Version 3 will support MMS description files to a limited degree. The copyright allows copying for non-commercial use, so please pass it on to a neighbor. If someone wants to distribute on BITnet, contact me and we can get started quickly. Someone has already offered to put MAKE on the Spring '88 DECUS tape (CHRIS@YMIR). I'll be at DEXPO and DECUS if you want to add your 4 hapenny's worth. You can catch me at the Datability booth in the main hall at DEXPO most of the time.
