I am sorry to post this to the net but I tried reaching the author by e-mail and CUNY/STMP bounced the mail back to me. Hopefully Todd will see this or somebody else will see this and get it to Todd. Thanks everyone. ########################################################################### I have been looking for a MAKE facility to run under VMS which is compatible with the UNIX MAKE utility for some time now so I was very excited to hear that you have one available. I am a quantum chemist and our research group supports three programs which carry out molecular orbital calculations. These programs are all written in FORTRAN and vary in size with the smallest about 150,000 lines of code and the largest about 400,000 lines of code. I am somewhat new to the group and there is currently no method of source code maintenance available on the VAX's other than .COM files and our memory. I dread the thought of spending time tracking bugs due to out of date object files. You had mentioned that Version 3 would be available in May sometime. In exchange for a copy of the MAKE program (either old or new) I would be more than willing to serve as a BITNET distributor. Our current computer resource picture is as follows: 1.) VAX 8530 - VMS 2.) MicroVax 2000 - VMS 3.) 3081-D32 - VM/SP CMS (BITNET connection.) 4.) 3090-120E VF100 - MVS/XA 5.) CELERITY 1260D - BSD UNIX We have both a FORTRAN compiler and a C compiler available on the VAX's. A VMS executable or source code would be fine. I have no tremendous desire for source code however, an executable would be adequate if you could get it to us. I use ZMODEM to transfer files to/from the VAX's which seems to support 512 byte fixed length records which allow the transferal of executable images from one VAX to another. Let me know if this arrangement is possible and suitable for you. Perhaps I could help your distribution problem and you can help with my source code maintenance problem. I look forward to further communications with you. As always, G.W. Wettstein NU013809@NDSUVM1
