I am a new systems programmer at this IBM 4341 - VM/CMS 3.1 site. I have been trying to connect to this school's modem line with my IBM/PC at home. No matter which speed, parity, etc. I try, I can never get through. I tried Procomm+,PC-Talk and various other programs. People tell me that I need an 'emulation card', but I have no free slots in my PC. Deep inside, I feel that I can connect without extra hardware. We have NCP that handles these tasks, and I wonder if I need to modify the NCP definitions for that line. When I connect to the school, I get about two garbage characters every two seconds for a while, then nothing else. I sure would appreciate your help, since it would be so nice to not to drive drive half an hour to a terminal at school, for a simple reader check.. Thanks, -turgut kalfaoglu
