  I am not sure if this is the correct group so forgive me if I
am wrong. A few days ago Robert Firth criticized (Boy did he)
some Pascal code that translated integers and floats to strings
and back again. Its an issue I never gave much thought to but
it interested me. How is this done when done well?? any
pointers to relevant literature??
