For some reason, Conman will not send any input to a program if ctrl-\
(eof) is used to end the line. I.e., you can't do
type * to formfeed
^L^\
and get a formfeed by itself in a file. (every editor I have will insist on
putting a newline at the end, which is not acceptable.)
