I would like to second this motion.  Especially on a hard disk, I am
dreading the time I have to reformat a partition due to a bad
block.  I should be able to run a program (badtrk ?) and say
cylinder/head blah is bad or sector blah is bad.  I realize I 
would have to take the chance of loosing this data, but _everyone_
does backups, right? :-)
