I own a Mac, and am happy with it. I suspect that the >people in this group are happy with their Amigas. But I do have a couple >of questions for you. >1. What made you choose the Amiga? I like the graphics and sound capabilities of the Amiga. I want to merge animation and things recorded from the VCR. A big factor was the Multitasking capability. >2. What does it do well? See above. I have renamed many of my commands so they are the same as the UNIX commands I use at work. (No they work different but the "copy" command is now "cp" on my Amiga.) >3. What does it not do well? The interlaced mode is bad because it flickers. This is a function of my monitor, not the computer. The multitasking capability is somewhat disappointing. (WHOA THERE AMIGOIDS!!!) This is due to the software, again, not the computers. (Elect. Arts.) >4. How does it differ from the Mac? The MAC only has a one button mouse. The MAC is not color. The MAC does not mulitask like the Amiga. I don't know the details about this. (This info. is from the guy that sits next to me at work that owns a Madfjkdsh (Damn just can't seem to type it.:-) ) ) >5. What features do you make use of on a day-to-day basis? I usually use just the basic computer type stuff such as communication and text generation.(Read word processing) I am looking into desktop publishing and animation. >6. What features do you rarely use? The graphics and sound. I will in the future however. >7. What breaks, and how often? (Like how often does it crash?) I have recently had problems downloading stuff directly to my printer from my machine at work. (an HP machine) I didn't have this problems with my Okimate-20 but I recently got an hp DeskJet. (which works great except for this problem.) The system just locks up - no Guru or anything. >I really am interested, because I hear that the Amiga is a nice machine. >Unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to play with one. I would >tell you all about the Mac, except that there are probably a large number >of people on this group who aren't interested. If you like, you can e-mail >me. My mailer decided it didn't want to work today -- So I am posting as a response. >Thanks! Thank you for asking about the differences intelligently, and not being one of those "my computers great and yours is ca-ca" morons. I hope everyone in this group behaves as well. >David Getchell Dave S.
