After booting, the system tries to validate the harddisk, but after a while it just stops. The harddisk is left read-able, but not write-able. This all happened after a system crash (no guru, just lockup), where a file was open (a normal case where the os needs to re-validate the disk that being written to). I've used this disk for more than a year without problems. It's an ST251 with one 40meg partition. I would hate to have to backup everything, reformat and restore. Does anyone have any suggestions? THanks.
