It currently has 512K and my first priority is to increase this to 640K. Consequently, an extended memory board for this computer has to be able to perform back-fill. The 'official' board for doing this is the Zenith Z-405 memory board which has just skyrocketed to over $500!!! A secondary item on my wish list is for any additional memory to be EEMS capable. I've tried one of the EVEREX boards advertised as being able to run in an AT but trying 5 different boards in 5 different Z-248s proved it wasn't going to work. Jerry Pournelle wrote some months back in Byte that he used a Cheetah Combo board in a Z-248 and it worked. I heard that AST boards are good bets for compatibility with the expanded memory specifications. Any suggestions? Has anybody used a board in a Z-248 that cost less than the GNP and had it work? Thanks in advance. -John M. Desmond
