The Laser will automagically do Xon/Xoff or DTR/CTS handshaking. Novell is capable of supporting both, you MUST tell it which one to use. DOS can support only hardware handshaking (DTR/CTS) without being modified. Since you say it doesn't work with either DOS or Novell, I suggest you run the Novell Install program and set the com port to do Xon/Xoff handshaking. You evidently have it set to do DTR/CTS and the cable is not set up for hardware handshake. Another way is to fix the cable to pass the DTR/CTS signals which will give you the advantage of letting it work with plain PC type equipment, never mind the software being used.
