GIF files get posted there from time to time. I never download them because they are SO big, and I don't want to pay for them. I would expect that a lot of Usenet system administrators would feel the same way; somebody's paying for all this, after all. And I don't see that such files provide much real benefit per byte, either--all they are (usually) is entertainment.
