Keywords: computer virus Message-ID: <2109@ur-tut.UUCP> Date: 23 May 88 22:08:18 GMT Organization: Univ. of Rochester, Computing Center Lines: 27 Now that we know that the threat of computer viruses is real, I would be interested in knowing how people at other Universities are dealing with the situation. What steps if any have been taken at Universities that have been hit by a virus? What about other places that have not been hit thus far? Are there any preventive measures that can be taken WITHOUT spreading panic amongst microcomputer users (especially those that are not very computer literate)? In other words, how do you educate users to this threat without straining our already thin consulting resources? I am interested in finding out how Universities that maintain collections of PD software go about trying to ensure that their collection is not infected? Please e-mail and if I get anything substantial, I will post a summary here. Thanks. -- Atul Kacker | Internet: akk2@tut.cc.rochester.edu | UUCP: {ames,cmcl2,decvax,rutgers}!rochester!ur-tut!akk2 "Gun control is being able to hit your target" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
