The fata exit code describes the particular error encountered. If you have an external terminal connected to COM1 you can get a symbolic stack trace. I have been involved with Scanning Gallery, so I'm really replying to the problem you had while trying to convert. This particular problem has been reported by several people who had the 1.02 version. All of these people that I was able to contact, reported that this problem no longer occured in Scanning Gallery 2.0. If you haven't upgraded to version 2.0 yet, I strongly recommend that you do, it has many additional features missing in 1.02. If you have any more questions or comments about Scanning Gallery please let me know. I am using someone else's account at the moment, but will get my own account soon.
