I asked our local graphics-guru about these, here is his answer: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 23-MAY-1988 23:28:55.33 From: GAMRC@ISUVAX To: VAXE::BITNET::"GG.SPY@ISUMVS" Subj: RE: Any clues on this? John, Regarding REGIS-to-HPGL : Although such a transformation is possible, it would be VERY messy and a nontrivial task. I know of no existing packages for this transformation. Regarding SIXEL-to-HPGL : A truly horrendous conversion. SIXEL is a raster protocol while HPGL is a vector protocol. Raster to vector transformation is monstrously inefficient and rarely provides reasonable-looking output. Again, I know of no such existing package. Of the two approaces to hardcopy, REGIS-to-HPGL would afford the best results, but writing such a conversion would be a significant task.
