But, then again, ftp does not use that flag for anything. Hmmm. I think you are wrong about the last. The abort sequence on the top of page 35 of RFC-959 specifies a Telnet IP - Synch sequence, and the Telnet protocol spec says that this is to be sent with Urgent. So, by implication, a (correctly implemented) FTP does use the TCP Urgent pointer (not a flag!). Bob Braden
