Physics University Zuerich Lines: 36 This is NOT intended as flame of anybody, in particular not of the moderator of comp.sources/binaries.atari.st. This posting is prompted by the posting of rzsz (the UN*X version of zmodem) to comp.sources. atari.st. I propose that we adopt a policy of not posting software that does not run on the Atari ST to the Atari binaries and sources groups, in particular no software that has previously posted to comp.sources.unix and comp.sources.misc. Reasons: - it's a real waste of resources (something the various IBM-PC groups really excell in, I don't think we have to copy all brain-damage from them....) - most sites that receive netnews and run UN*X, archive comp.sources.unix and comp.sources.misc locally. If you are missing a program, or it's simply not installed at your site, what about asking the person that is taking care of News at your place? - comp.sources.unix is archived at various public accessible sites. There is no problem accessing archives from BITNET and 'ARPANET' sites. The regular introduction to comp.sources. unix lists all archives. - if a program is useful and a up to date version hasn't been posted for a long time, you should arrange that it gets posted to one of the major sources groups, so that a maximum of people will profit. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- UUCP: ...mcvax!cernvax!forty2!poole Simon Poole BITNET: K538915@CZHRZU1A ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
