There are other replacements for # to get at PFK's 10 up, and shift PFK's, I just can't remember. As for the char / line insert / delete: these send two character sequences ESC X where X changes depending on the key (and whether it was shifted or not). Unshifted they send the same sequences as are in the termcap / terminfo file for the appropriate action.
