I want to write a program that will do 'promiscuous' viewing of all the ethernet traffic so I can get some statistics like packet sizes, proportion of one type of packet to another and other things. I assume that I'll have to open the device as root so I can read it, but after that I can't seem to find the right system calls to put 'er all together. I've watched this done on a mVAX II running VMS 4.7, and the only privilege needed was PHYSIO, but the Unix version has got me stumped. Thanx. -- Jaye Mathisen mathisen.sys_admin.sys_org icsu6000%mtsunix1.BITNET@cunyvm.cuny.edu icsu6000%mtsunix1.BITNET
