Is there anyone out there who has done a X11R2-Apollo port successfully ?

I have finished make and install successfully on Apollo , but I can not
start up the Xapollo server(note: I've tried both 9.6 and 9.7 and both failed).
The symptom is :
   A big gray background window with a X cursor was up after issue xinit 
   command, but the expected root window was never brought up, therefore, I
   have to abort the process.  

The command I typed is:
   xinit -- Xapollo -D1 d1 

Any info is appreciated.
