Ho ho. No. Not quite right. The DAA is to protect the network. Period. The equipment is on its own. (Actually, it would not surprise me if some of the commercial DAAs included protection for the equipment, but that is *not* the purpose of a DAA, and I for one wouldn't depend on the DAA for that.)
