I am FINALLY posting on here. After reading news from UseNet posted on various Amiga BBS's for about two years. Then finally getting up my own UUCP node using UUPC Amiga, but not being able to post news (yet), I have finally climbed the mountain. There are a few things I would like to say to everyone and I hope I don't bore you. A. Thanks to everyone on the net who has made the Amiga the biggest kick-butt machine in the world. B. As I noted I do have a UUCP node running on the Amiga using UUPC. It is VERY rough. Although I can send and receive mail, receive (but not post) newsgroups, the whole thing is a kludge of programs taped together with Dillon's Shell (tanx Matt). Is ANYONE interested in a project to Intuitionize and Amigaize UUPC for the Amiga? I would like to see it step out of the CLI and onto my mouse. Something like App**Link comes to mind... What a sweet program, don't I wish all BBS's were that way. Anyway, if interested read the last paragraph. C. A PLEA to Commodore. I know this isn't very good to talk about after watching Monty get sliced, diced, and fed to the fish when he got upset about asthetics. The Amiga is a beautiful computer in a U*G*L*Y case. If the Amiga 3000 is beige, I'll puke all over it (probably in beige). App** is the only people who seem to care at all about computer case design. Please consider hiring some professional design house to do the Amiga 3000. God knows with all the German furniture that is in design mags, there should be someone over there with a taste for modern design. That is really the only gripe I have with Commodore. I could go into dropping the C64 series and spending billions of dollars on Amiga ads, but I don't think it would be appreciated :-*. D. I am sick to death of the third letter of the alphabet. There is virtually none or very little information on programming the Amiga in MC68000 assembly. I DON'T want to program in C. I know it is the language of the future, blah, blah, blah, but I'm an assembly language programmer. After buying two perfectly dismal books on Amiga assembly language, I am desperate for some good examples (NOT Jake Commander's CALCULATOR :-[ ). If you have some good source kicking around that you would mail me, I'd be mucho-grande appreciative. Tips, hints, or book suggestions would also be helpful. E. Is there another Amiga/Trailblazer user out there in the whole wide world? I know of one and he is about as smart as a carrot. If you do have an Amiga and a Trailblazer, be sure to mail me. Also, if anyone has done any benchmarks on what terminal program transfers at the highest speed, I'd appreciate a letter. F. I am fairly good friends with Rocky Stargel and Keary Griffen. The infamous authors of Diga! (hold back those rotten vegetables!). Even though they wouldn't take me on as a beta tester (they prefered high-school cheerleaders :-) ), I have been yelling at them with suggestions for Diga! 2.0. I have sent them a three page bug list, the VT100 emulator review off of here, and Chuck Forsbergs source to ZModem and YModem-G. They are carefully taking every suggestion into account. One thing they don't plan on changing is that damn phonebook format (Rocky sez, "I like it"). However, if you are a user or exuser of Diga! and you have some suggestions mail them to me and I'll forward them. Thanks again everyone.
