Believe it or not, I have found the giving the offending disk a good solid heft in the direction of the nearest wall generally makes the problem go away. I did it out of frustration one day and the disk worked when I tried it again. This has since happened on three other occasions and the "wall trick" fixed things up. Steve PS.
