I've been able to use Paintworks Gold when there's a RAM dik configured.
I have 1.7 Megs and have 300K set aside for a RAM disk.  Haven't had any
problems yet, though I haven't used Paintworks Gold extensively yet.

There's a better way of doing this, you simultae a cold boot without turning
off the computer.  You still have to go intop the control panel and reboot.
I found this in the docs for Diversi Cache.  Press OA-Shift-Cntrl-Reset, wait
for two beeps, then hit Cntrl-Reset, I think I got that right.
