Word from Sony (and I had to call six different divisions to find out) is that the Mac drives have special electronics. You CANNOT modify a standard 3.5" drive for the Mac. The Central Point Systems Copy II PC Deluxe Options Board lets you read and write Mac disks on a PC class machine, so there is obviously some compatibility. But the hardware is entirely different.
