Hmmm.  I just saw the same phrase, "Inappropriate ioctl for device",
on a machine here when the latest MX sendmail from UCB had gotten
itself wedged and had dozens of unreaped children.  The system ran
out of processes.  Does anyone know if this is, in fact, a sendmail
bug?
