As has been pointed out before, they are not built well enough to handle the actual weight and strain of the bulky transceiver cable, and they don't do their job as a result! Screws or knurled knobs or wire bails a la IEEE488 or Centronics would be a welcome relief! For our DELNIS we had to cobble together a custom strain-relief panel.
