I'm not sure about PC's but you can copy a SUN or HP executable to an 
Apollo disk via NFS and execute it.  My test was simple however - 

% mount -o soft apollo:// /mnt
% cp /bin/date /mnt/apollo/sys/node_data/tmp
% /mnt/apollo/sys/node_data/tmp/date
Tue Jun 14 10:01:21 EDT 1988
