 I was tinkering with a commodore +4 that I had bought at aa garage sale
 blew out the serial port. I traced the lines to a chip marked 8551 (or what
 looked like 8551). No where in  the civilized could I find a chip that fit
 that description . 
 I suspect the chip may be identical to the 6551, but wanted to make
 sure before i put one in and really fried the computer. Does anybody out
 there know anything that might help me???
