I tried your Freemacs on my XT-clone and I found 3 problems -

1 - when you start it up it does nothing until you type ENTER twice !

2 - it wont edit largish files, say 100K (64K data segment?)

3 - it leaves the cursor highlighted on my Herc display when you exit
