Except that IBM wasn't the first company to enter the computer business. When UNIVAC sold its first computer, IBM initially decided that it wasn't worth designing a computer because the prediction was that three to five such systems would be enough for the entire country! IBM's equipment has never pushed the state of the art--years after all other manufacturers had switched to transistors, IBM introduced a vacuum tube system. -- UUCP: {ucbvax,harvard}!cs.cmu.edu!ralf -=-=-=- Voice: (412) 268-3053 (school) ARPA: ralf@cs.cmu.edu BIT: ralf%cs.cmu.edu@CMUCCVMA FIDO: Ralf Brown 1:129/31 Disclaimer?
