What is really interesting is that the latest ST-251's I've tried had sub-30 ms seek times. Possibly, Seagate could be making one drive, and selling as ST-251's those that don't meet -1 specs. *This is only a rumor*. I have no way of checking it out! Seagate definitely seems to have been working on their drive quality. Recent ST-225's have better quality media as well, reported to work well on RLL controllers by Perstor (c.f. my list of RLL-able drives, provided by Perstor; the relevant part is that ST-225 rev #003 with S/N > 1,000,000, and rev #003B and up, all work well with RLL).
