Any ideas on this? One reply suggested that real folders could function equally as well if the system simply recognized 'cdevs' in folders labelled 'cdev' etc. This would certainly be a simple 'fix' for some problems, but would not be suffiently general. I still like the simpler idea of MFS-like 'virtual folders' distinguished by a distinctive icon (how about a folder with window-pane?). This would allow maximum flexibility and elegance in hard-disk organization. A work-around might be to have the system give the user an option to specify what folders it should look in for what sorts of files. But this begins to look like MS-DOS paths.. Rather than compiling an extensive wish list of other add-ins, perhaps if all of you who think this might be a good idea would e-mail me your comments, I could compile them and forward to the Apple Folks.
