  This isn't a bug in sendmail.  It's a bug in /bin/mail.  The bug was
reported several times in comp.bugs.4bsd.  A fix for the bug was released
in comp.bugs.4bsd.ucb-fixes, in V1.44.  If you have access to 4.3BSD
sources and apply the fix this will fix your problem.
