I've seen this before.  EVERYONE gets a flier that says
"if X then you receive a prize", where X is always true.

Typical prize (an old housemate got this one):

Coupon worth $100 off the price of a one-week stay at some
hotel chain that operates up in Northern Ontario somewhere.


(The same housemate let a vacuum salesman in the front door.
The salesman was the epitomy of hard-sell, and he just would
*not* leave.)

Another friend of mine managed a group of vacuum salesman for
a summer.  Now he's got a Master's degree in Management Studies.
Some of the stories he tells are really hilarious;  people can
be really gullible.
