I've seen a number of things mentioned in this group but not (I believe) 
what I use:  Krylon All-Purpose Silicone Spray.  It's worked fine and
caused no problems or damage as far as I can tell.  If I'm doing something
horribly distructive through this practice, I'd appreciate someone telling
me.
