I suspect that Robert Bradbury does the same for Oracle, and others for RTI. I suspect that most of these people , do it on their own because they care about their companies. The last benchmark wars did get a little out of hand, but I seriously doubt that these were a result of corporate strategy to "subtly and professionally denigrate competitors." About a year ago somebody from RTI explained why something that was thought of as a bug in our product, was a result of the Relational Model, and couldn't be solved in any of the products on the market !!! So at least in this news group I don't think things are that bad.
