What about ESC-ESC? That one is the most annoying for me.. I never have any trouble with vi "modes" because I just hit the ESC key unless I am absolutely sure that I am already in command mode. In fact, you could think of each vi command being prefixed with ESC and vi would no longer have modes... Anyway, I would guess that many vi users fall into this habit since the worst that vi will do if you hit an extra ESC is beep at you. Unfortunately this is not true for vip. Les Mikesell
