But it's not just user identifiers... consider a system where mail is being gatewayed on a VMS machine between the un*x world and the DEC foreign mail interface which uses a % character in the address to define the interface - for example, mail from PSS has the address prefix "PSI%", which can wreak some havoc when replied to by the unwary! -- Regards.
