You ARE obviously biased toward your Amiga, but that is understandable. Byte is a mass-market rag pointed toward the majority, which is IBM/Mac. Dr. Dobbs has gone the same way. I sometimes feel Byte is a 400-page ad for BIX, as there is little/no background, no listings, no references - just a repeated encouragement to 'see the discussion on BIX regarding this'...
