If you do this, you'll have cut and paste facilities -- middle mouse button marks a region and the right mouse button pastes it into the terminal input buffer of the window the pointer is in. THIS IS NOT SUPPORTED BY DEC. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! Caveats aside, I've had then enabled ever since DECUS Anaheim where I found out about them, and they've worked fine for me.
