There is a serial link of MIT which provides internet access for host 807f1964 to the Internet. In order to ftp files from this host to a host off the MILNET, a user using SunOS 4.0 must start a periodic ICMP ECHO to 807f1964 in parallel with the ftp 'get'. The question I have is, "What is the peer hardware/software configuration of the serial link?" I want to make sure that the Laboratory does not procure same. Phil Wood cpw@lanl.gov
