Just to add my voice to the screams of popping monitors....

one of my friends has a 1084.... and it snapps and pops and otherwise
raises hell about every 20 minutes.....

hes had it in the shop, and supposedly there is a redesign in
works to fix this problem with half of the 1084s on the market
(supposedly two different tube makers...)

this true or what???
(i have a 1080, so i couldn't really care... :-)   )
